3 Ways GoldMail Makes Network Marketing and Direct Selling Easier

(contributed by: Tom Holownia)

In a recent post on NBC13 News “People turn to ‘network marketing’ in a slow economy”, 3-month Arbonne consultant, Jennifer Grissom observed, “It’s not easy [network marketing], but it is simple…You just have to be able to understand it, and be enthusiastic, without being annoying.”

GoldMail helps new network marketers and direct sellers with all 3 challenges:

Challenge #1: Our innate fear of rejection makes it hard to get started
GoldMail lets you touch your prospective customer or recruit with an email rather than a cold phone call out of the blue. They open your email and click on your GoldMail link. Your message plays in a browser window where they see your visuals and hear your voice – just the way you recorded it (“It’s like you were sitting right next to me!” customers report after playing a GoldMail message).

Challenge #2: Be (and stay) enthusiastic
Record the perfect enthusiastic GoldMail message, just the way you want it and share it with as many people as you like using your own email or by posting it online. Make it once but use it again and again and again!

Challenge #3: Don’t be annoying yet what’s more annoying than answering the phone and being pitched by a friend on their new business? (no wonder there’s Challenge #1!)
Because GoldMail messages arrive as a link in an email, your recipient can view it when it’s convenient for her and respond in kind with an email, which is a lot easier to do than live on the phone if the answer is, “No thanks.”

Here’s how Direct Sellers and Network Markters use GoldMail to help them sell more, save time, and jumpstart new consultants and distributors:

  • Follow up after meeting a new customer or team recruit
  • Welcome a new team member
  • Introduce new products and promotions
  • Renewal and reorder reminders
  • Invitations to parties and shows
  • Inform and motivate their team

Sticker Your Way to Higher Party Attendance

  • Affix assorted colored stickers to invitations
  • Request they bring their invitation with them to the party / show
  • Let them know there will be a drawing at the party and everyone with a certain color (or number if using numbers) gets a special gift – free

Christensen on Sponsoring

  • “Selling means income for today. Sponsoring means income for a lifetime!”
  • “People who are perfect for your business are the ones who see your business being perfect for them”
  • Sponsoring is:
    • Not about you
    • Not about the company
    • Not about the founders
    • But about them – the gap between where they are now and where they want to be and don’t assume “they’ve already arrived” by the way they dress or what they drive – you’d be surprised
  • Mary finds consultants and distributors spend far too much time talking about how great the company is, while what people want are solutions to their problems
  • “Talk small”
    • Say less and they’ll hear more
    • Emphasize small, short-term goals, e.g. pay off the credit card in full each month vs. grandiose dreams of world travel; its more believable, achievable, and less off-putting
  • Don’t assume by looking at someone you know where they are in their life; you need to talk to everyone, so don’t take a NO as rejection – it’s just not a fit – move on
  • Keep the business opportunity speech ultra-short (15 seconds), down-to-earth and real, e.g. “The product changed my skin but the company changed my life.”
  • Always have a next step, e.g. “In ten days we’re having a short call about … if you’d like to attend.”

Make sure you launch GoldMail today and log in to get our latest version release (2009 04) with new features to help increase the number of views you get of your GoldMail messages.

Get more people to play your messages with a Photo Button.

Most of us using email today are understandably cautious when it comes to opening emails and clicking on links in messages unless we’re sure we know the sender. What better way to reassure your recipient that the message is truly from you and it’s OK to play it than to have your photo greet them when they open the email! They recognize you, are reassured and click to play your GoldMail message.

Thanks to everyone who requested this. We are excited to add PhotoPlay buttons as a “beta” feature. To give it a try look for this button when you next share via e-mail.

Send Picture Links

Sending GoldMail messages linked to your picture couldn’t be easier:

  1. Choose the “send link with a picture” option from “Share”
  2. Upload your picture, it will be linked to your message and sent to your e-mail
  3. Use your own e-mail programme to forward the picture link on.

Post GoldMail messages on Facebook.

Of course e-mail isn’t the only way to share GoldMail messages. As this article explains, Facebook is at the forefront of the rise in social networking, not only on a personal level, but also in business. So, if you are involved in business networking on facebook, we’ve  made it really easy to share your GoldMail messages with your contacts.

Simply create a GoldMail message then go to “post to a webpage” and look for the facebookf Share on Facebook link.

Other enhancements in this release include:

  • The “My GoldMail” button has been updated, so new GoldMail users know they can click it to get to their list of saved GoldMail messages.
  • For customers with more than one GoldMail account – a new checkbox setting in GoldMail>Settings>UserSettings to switch autologin On and Off (set to OFF if you want to log into different GoldMail accounts)

Enjoy the new features and let us know how we did or send us any new product ideas at our feedback forum

Turn Lemons into Lemonade

  • Mary once gave away free samples of her company’s ugliest nail polish color that she bought deeply discounted, wrapped them up and offered a free exchange if the customer / prospect didn’t like the color! Of course they exchanged! People love getting something for free and then they spent a bit more.
  • Take the party to them – show up before Valentine’s Day or Mother’s Day at HIS place of business offering to make it easy for the men to order

Hostess Coaching

  • The hostess should be worrying about just one thing – attendance – because the more people that come, the more orders get placed, the more free product they earn; you take care of the rest to help maximize your income from each event
  • Help them make it fun, interesting and about their guests – not about the product, company or opportunity, e.g. “I’m having a Pampering Party and I’ve invited an Arbonne consultant to come and give us all facials! I want you to come!”

The Power of a Closed-ended Question

  • Establish a connection and a place to start from with closed-ended questions; rather than “How do you like your current makeup?” which could result in a “It’s OK,” response, try, “What’s the one thing you’d change about your looks / complexion, if you could?”

A Cure for the Sometimes Elusive NEXT SLIDE Button

(contributor: Tom Holownia, VP Marketing, GoldMail)

When I first started using GoldMail, I found myself scrambling to find and click on the NEXT SLIDE button when I was ready to move from slide 1 to slide 2! I swear the button could have filled the screen and I’d still have managed to miss it and mess up the beginning of the recording.

Here’s the simply obvious solution that wasn’t so obvious to me at first.

After clicking the RECORD button in the RECORD step, take a moment before you begin speaking to casually position your cursor right on the NEXT SLIDE button that is now live during recording.

mouseover_nextslide

Cursor at the ready

This actually accomplishes 2 things:

It provides some room “at the top” of your recording to ensure the very beginning of your message isn’t snipped off (this can happen because either (a) you actually started speaking a split second before you actually clicked RECORD or (b) your computer needed a split second to stop whatever it was doing and pay attention to the fact you want to start recording – or maybe that’s just a quirk of my PC)

AND

You can now simply rest your hand on your mouse (without moving it!), while you record and calmly left click when you need to without having to break your train of thought to hunt around, <click>, and then remember where you left off, which keeps your recording from sounding stressed

What’s your simply obvious tip that might not be so obvious to others?
